How We Work

You do not need to know the name of the legal service before speaking to us. Start with what you are trying to achieve, the problem you have encountered or the decision you need to make.

We will discuss the relevant IP support, the information needed and the proposed scope of work. You can then decide whether to instruct us on that basis.

1. Tell us what you need

Use our contact page, call 01522 712 433 or email info@panoramixip.co.uk. Give us a short outline of the business or matter and mention any deadline. If you would like to speak to a particular person, tell us when you make contact.

At this stage, a clear summary is more useful than a large collection of documents. Avoid sending sensitive technical detail or confidential files before we have discussed the matter and how information should be provided.

2. Have an initial discussion

We use the information you provide to understand the issue and consider which IP expertise is relevant. That may involve a brand, invention, design, creative work, contract or dispute, or several of these together.

Our existing free initial consultation and free IP clinics offer a way to explore the starting point without an obligation to continue. An initial conversation helps identify options and recommendations; formal legal advice and further work require an agreed engagement. Ask about the appropriate route and availability when contacting the team.

3. Agree the work before instruction

We discuss what the proposed work covers, what information it relies on and what is outside the scope. Costs and the basis of the instruction should be clear before you decide to proceed. Tell us about your priorities and any other advisers involved so the work can be planned around the matter.

Some projects need separate stages, such as a search before an application or an initial review before a detailed response. If the circumstances change or further work is needed, the proposed next step should be discussed rather than assumed.

4. Choose a filing service or contact us

Our UK trade mark filing and US trade mark filing routes provide a starting point for the filing products described on this website. Review the stated scope and provide accurate information about the applicant, mark and business activities. Contact us if you are unsure whether a product fits your requirements.

Other matters need a tailored discussion, including disputes, technical patent work, transaction reviews and more complex filing situations. An order or payment is not a guarantee that an IP application will succeed.

5. Keep us up to date

Once the work is agreed, provide the requested information and tell us about changes that may affect it. A new deadline, a revised product, correspondence from another party or a change of ownership can alter the position.

We discuss the relevant next steps within the instruction. Where a different service, territory or adviser is needed, the roles and additional work should be clarified. Your business remains involved in the decisions that shape the IP work.

A useful first-enquiry checklist

  • What your business does and what you want to achieve.
  • The brand, product, technology, agreement or dispute involved.
  • Any existing application or registration number that helps identify the matter.
  • Important dates and a brief outline of correspondence already received.
  • The names of other parties or advisers involved, where relevant.
