Case Study: Lincoln City Football Club

Collaboration on and off the pitch
As Lincolnshire’s largest IP law firm, we developed a partnership with Lincoln City Football Club (LCFC) and were delighted to become a sponsor. The visibility from pitch‑side advertising and website exposure has helped drive qualified traffic to our site and social channels.
During this partnership, LCFC asked us to review their trade mark portfolio and identify gaps. We found that the club’s Imp logo had been updated, but no new trade mark application had been filed. While a trade mark for the old logo remained in force, it did not protect the club’s current brand identity. This is a common risk we see with sports teams, and other businesses, after a rebrand or logo refresh.
We acted quickly and filed a new UK trade mark application for LCFC’s updated Imp logo, which is now registered with the Intellectual Property Office, providing 10 years of protection before renewal is required.
All at Panoramix IP look forward to strengthening our relationship with LCFC and supporting the club both as a sponsor and in protecting its intellectual property rights.
