Brand
protection
Your brand is one of your most valuable assets. It’s how your clients or customers will recognise you and it’s what they’ll base their opinion of your business on, well before they’ve come into contact with either your product, service or team. That’s why it’s so important to pay attention to your brand protection strategy. So you can safeguard your brand assets against counterfeits and fraudsters, establish and maintain a positive brand reputation, and increase sales.
Sometimes though, it can be difficult to get your head around how best to get started. You understand your brand is only as strong as the strategy protecting it, which of course means you’ll want to give it the best protection possible, but how can you be sure you’re doing that in a way that’s just right for your business?
This is where we can help. At Panoramix, we know your brand is unique. And because we know this, we know your brand protection strategy should be equally as unique. Whether you’re an established business or just starting out, we’ll take the time to really understand your business objectives. So when we get to your brand assets, we can give you clear, simple legal advice that will help protect your brand in a way that works for you.

Technology
protection
Your unique technology is key to your business’s success. It’s one of the things that sets your business apart and it plays a big role in determining why your clients or customers choose you. But in today’s fast-paced, ever-evolving world, it’s becoming increasingly easy for third parties to swoop in and take advantage of a business’s innovations, without them even knowing about it.
That’s why it’s never been more important to protect the technology that makes your business what it is. And patents are the best way to do that.
A patent grants you exclusive rights to use, manufacture and sell your invention for a certain period of time – usually twenty years from the filing date of the application. This means no one else will be able to exploit your innovation without your permission. So your competitive edge will remain exactly that, yours.
Our down-to-earth, expert attorneys can assist you across every stage of your patent’s journey. From drafting the initial application, right the way through to enforcing or defending it once it’s been filed.

Best-in-class expertise for a best-in-class business
As a global provider of industry-leading gym design and equipment, Escape Fitness knew the importance of protecting their innovations well before they came to us. They needed efficiency and responsiveness, and a team of experts who were capable of handling every aspect of their business’s intellectual property. From start to finish, they wanted to know things were being taken care of to help support the growth of their business.
Our unique, personable approach allowed us to quickly gain a clear understanding of what Escape Fitness needed from their intellectual property strategy. Their equipment was better and more functional than anything their competitors were producing. In order to protect against potential infringements, our first recommendation was to rationalise their patent portfolio.
Once we had done this, we were able to turn our attention to other matters such as reducing the amount Escape Fitness were spending on protecting their intellectual property. This is an ongoing process as we flex and adapt to Escape Fitness’ growth and strategy, but so far, we’ve managed to reduce their costs by over fifty per cent.
With more resources to play with, Escape Fitness have been able to reinvest greater amounts of money into product development, furthering their position as an industry leader. We continue to work with them, proactively looking at ways we can support their business growth. A relatively recent development has involved Kevin taking on the position of outsourced in-house counsel to oversee and support on all legal matters for the business both in the UK and US.
Contractual
protection
When it comes to protecting your intellectual property, a templated, one-size-fits-all approach will always fall short. Every idea, product, process or service is unique. So it stands to reason the contracts protecting them should also be unique. And yet time and time again we see businesses lose out because critical pieces of information have been missed – often due to contracts that aren’t quite fit for purpose.
We take a tailored approach to contract protection here at Panoramix. And our trusted network of intellectual property advisors are accomplished across every aspect of the contracting process. From drafting to reviewing and everything in between.
Whatever your needs are, whether you have a contractual dispute that needs resolving or you’re looking to create an entirely new contract to buy or sell intellectual property, we’re here to support you. Trust us with your intellectual property contracts and we’ll provide you with high-quality advice that’s actionable and relevant to your business.

Giving licensing agreements a new lease of life
The best, most effective intellectual property strategies are the ones that consider all aspects of a business’s overarching strategy – and from multiple viewpoints. When a ‘wearable device technology’ client came to us seeking support with their licencing agreements we supported them in seeing the bigger picture. Their agreements didn’t align with their commercial strategy, so we worked with them to bring everything together.
Working in partnership, we got to know the nuances of our client’s business objectives, as well as their individual needs and requirements. So when it came to drawing up their agreements, we knew exactly which steps to take. We provided the client with an updated, fully comprehensive suite of agreements – including Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) agreements, End-user license agreements, privacy policies, and website terms and conditions. All whilst keeping the process transparent, simple and easy to understand.
We also negotiated bespoke contracts with large corporate and governmental entities on the client’s behalf, providing them with new business opportunities.
As a result of our support, our client has been able to focus on their core business activities, secure in the knowledge that their legal and regulatory requirements are being met.
Competitor
analysis
Protecting your business’s intellectual property starts well before you reach for any patents or trademarks. First, you need to take a look at what your competitors are getting up to, so you can make well-informed, strategic decisions with your intellectual property based on hard, tangible truths.
What are their strengths? What are their weaknesses? Where are the opportunities? And from which direction could a threat arise? These are all questions that should be asked and answered when seeking to gain an overview of how the competition is approaching things.
A carefully planned, thorough analysis of your competitor’s market position will give you the information you need to maximise the effectiveness of your intellectual property strategy. You’ll be able to make the big plays for the big opportunities – because you’ll know what those opportunities are, and you’ll have the foresight to make it happen.
Regardless of whether you’re a university spin-out, innovative start-up or large multi-national corporation, we can give you the support you need to keep an eye on the competition indefinitely. And when you’ve got our resources on your side, you’ll always be one step ahead.

Freedom to operate for a medical tech business, granted
Recently, we supported a specialist augmented reality medical technology business to establish ‘freedom to operate’, as part of an innovation grant application. The client needed to be sure, and be able to prove, that their technology didn’t infringe on any other patents that already existed in their area of expertise. This was a key part of the grant’s criteria, and it required a time efficient response.
Working against a tight deadline, we assessed multiple patents across a variety of sectors to make sure we had all our client’s options covered. Our extensive expertise, intimate knowledge of the client’s industry and solutions-focused approach allowed us to arrive at the right answers – and quickly.
As a result, we provided the client with a comprehensive ‘freedom to operate’ opinion they could submit alongside their grant application. The opinion detailed a complete breakdown of the patents in the client’s field and identified any potential infringement risks – clearly and simply. It was instrumental in being able to convince the grant provider to support the project.

Intellectual property
audit
When you’re first getting to grips with your intellectual property, we understand it can be a bit of a challenge knowing where the best place to start is. Even if you already have an existing strategy in place, it’s easy to lose track of what assets you own and how they’re protected. That’s where an IP audit can come in handy.
An IP audit will give you the information you need to make the best, most well-informed decisions you can for your business’s intellectual property. It will provide you with a comprehensive review of all your assets, as well as advice and guidance on how best to put those assets to use. So it’s a great way to lay the first stone, especially if you’re just getting started with things.
That’s why we spend so much time getting to know your business objectives as well – back to front and inside out. Because the more we know about where you want to go, what you want to achieve and how you want to achieve it, the better and more targeted advice we can provide you with. We’ve built strong, professional partnerships with many of our clients this way, supporting them successfully from the strong, stable foundation their initial intellectual property audit gave them.
Grant
funding
Every business should have access to the resources it needs to protect its intellectual property – that’s our single unifying belief. But we recognise that access to the right kind of funding can sometimes get in the way of this. So we offer funding-option guidance to businesses looking to kickstart the protection process with an IP audit.
